US Cities Shut Down to Slow Coronavirus Outbreak
States and cities across the US are ordering business and event closures and urging people to stay home and practice social distancing in the fight against coronavirus. Public health officials urge people to stay home to limit the spread of the virus and prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed as is happening in Italy.
In recent days San Francisco has requested residents to stay home and leave only when absolutely essential, and Ohio has canceled its primary elections scheduled for Tuesday. Some states and cities have ordered restaurants to switch to drive-thru and delivery only, while others have shuttered all bars, gyms, and public gathering spaces urging people to stay home.
